About the Author
Barbara Cameron has been part of the women's movement since joining Women's Electoral Lobby in 1972.
She also joined an informal group planning the celebrations for Victoria's 150th Anniversary in 1984. This group hoped for a Women's Centre rather than a Women's Exhibition as planned by the State Government. She considered that a permanent place was a better recognition of women's contribution to Victorian society.
She was a founding member of the Queen Victoria Hospital Action Campaign, established in 1986, which was later incorporated as the Queen Vic. Women's Centre Inc. She served as Treasurer and Information Technology Convenor for most of the life of the group, contributing to Coordinating Committee processes and extensive planning procedures for a women's centre.
